TRAGIC TRAGEDY –
Oct. 15, 2024 – Authorities said a small plastic bag that contained two blue round pills with a monogram “M” and half of an oval pill were discovered on the bed. An analysis of the pills determined that they contained multiple drugs, including fentanyl and Alprazolam – an ingredient in Xanax.
A District woman pleaded guilty on Tuesday to voluntary manslaughter in the 2022 death of her 3-year-old daughter, who federal prosecutors say ingested her mother’s fentanyl-laced drugs, which had been left on the bed where the child was napping.
At the time of her arrest in February, prosecutors initially charged Sasha McCoy, 28, with first degree murder in the death of her daughter, Journey. McCoy is scheduled to be sentenced in February and as part of the plea, could be sentenced to between four and 10 years.
