Dec. 17, 2022 – Alcohol is one of the five most addictive substances according to many studies. Other drugs that typically make the inglorious list are heroin, cocaine, nicotine and barbiturates.
Both heroin and cocaine are of course illegal in Canada. Barbiturates are a controlled substance. And products that contain nicotine are heavily regulated. Cigarette companies are banned from advertising their products or from sponsoring cultural events. Yet alcohol is totally normalized.
